Boys creating awesome art!

These photos do not give these awesome pieces of art justice! I absolutely LOVE these dragons.  They are so so cool, yet so different.

These boys kept me laughing!

And, loved snack time!

Yes, your head is about 5 eyes wide.  We measured. In the summer! And, had a great time!

Before & After

Luke did an awesome job drawing!  This rising 6th grader has a great eye and a ton of patience!  In a short period of time, these are some of the improvements he made.

You should have seen us measuring our faces with these cool bendable rulers!  There is a formula to drawing faces that can be helpful that we practiced.  Also, Luke worked on adding values, layering, blending, and placement.

I love this lion!  Awesome job!

3-D Art in Action!

So, Ben loves origami, building, inventing, and details.  His ideas are unique.  I see a future engineer or architect without a doubt.  He likes rulers, problem solving.  And, to see it in an art form, is just cool!

Painting the background for his 3-D origami picture.

Assembling the origami

Planning the scene

TA-DA!  I just think this is a neat concept!  I love how he made the origami into a new art form.

I am proud of this kid!

Planning.

And, a neat little car he quickly created. Yup, it rolls.  Well done!

Learning to See

I firmly believe in kids creating their own art. I do not draw on their work.  I will not do it for them.  I want it to be THEIR WORK! It was so fun watching Nini and Charlotte learn to draw a little better in two days this week.  CZ, of course, is not totally interested in listening to me.  But, both girls make a lot of progress!
I had the girls (rising K & 1st) draw a flower on their own.  They were supposed to be looking at the flower.  (the flower on the right).  Then, I step by step, helped them to draw it again.  LOOKING at the flower.  (see the flower on the left)  Pretty good, I say!

CZM drawing a My Little Pony.  Her first attempt at an "animal."

People time!  On the left, this was Nini's person without instruction.  On the right, with instruction. WOW!

And, then My Little Pony's!

I am proud of these girls and their willingness to work on drawing!
Well done.  With practice anyone, (yes, you adults too!) can draw!

Artists at work

One of my favorite things about the Art Shack is having 5 kids or more,
EACH creating something totally different at the SAME time.  Some kids don't want to paint flowers.  Others do.  Some love black and white drawings, others need neon.  For some people art is about the process of creating, and for others it is about skill or the finished product.  Even, at a young age.
I love that the Art Shack is a place that people can create their own unique art pieces, together.

CZ @ the Art Shack--- FLASH BACK---

Last summer CZ had a great time in the studio!
I can't wait to see what unfolds this summer :)
The "big kids" were painting on a canvas...so this was her first canvas painting.
It was an animal in the zoo.  I love the imagination of a kid!

Sweetness

Oh how this precious little artist Carley loved my dogs.
Mollie was her inspiration for all of the art she created!

An Art Shack Week!

This week's group of gals are awesome! Super polite, sweet, CrEaTiVe, willing to try anything artsy, and they absolutely LOVE the "studio dogs," Molly & Bitzy!  Monday, these artsy gals ages 6-12 experimented with watercolor creating these neat (and all different) watercolor paintings.  They also started part of a larger canvas....stay tuned!  I love playing in the Art Shack!
